”Ajith is the sole reason for me being in Veeram”

Veeram starring Ajith, directed by Siruthai Siva will be a Pongal 2014 treat for the audience. Vidharth of Mynaa fame is one of the co-stars in the film. When he was talking about his experiences of working with Ajith, he is visibly floored by the Arrambam star like everyone else who is subjected to his spell.

When the offer to act in Veeram came, Vidharth did not have dates as his call sheet was with another director’s film. Vidharth says, “I blamed my ill fate as I almost missed my chance of working with Ajith”. However, it was Ajith who had spoken to the director and paved way for Vidharth to be in Veeram. “I can never forget this deed of Ajith”, Vidharth adds and adds “but for Ajith, i would not have got the golden chance to star in Veeram”..

He further quips that it was Ajith’s magnanimity that enabled Vidharth to have the first shot for Veeram and it was also Ajith who made arrangements for the Mynaa hero to travel to Switzerland although he did not have scenes in Swiss.

Veeram directed by Siruthai Siva has completed shooting and the film goes into its post-production stage. The film as per the team is a rural based one which will have all elements of a commercial potboiler like romance, sentiment, action and comedy.

The producers Venkatramana Reddy and Bharath Reddy are very happy that Siva completed the film within the time frame and the film is all set for a 2014 Pongal release.

Ajith has the svelte Tamannah as his arm candy in the film while Santhanam, Bala, Vidharth, Suhail round out the supporting cast. Cinematography is handled by Vetri, editing by Kasi Viswanathan, stunts by Selva, art direction by Milan and Dinesh in in charge of dance choreography.

நாம் எல்லொரும் அஜித்தை ஒரு நடிகனாக பார்ப்பதைவிட ஒரு மனிதனாய் பார்க்க ஆரம்பித்து விட்டோம். அந்த மனிதனின் நேர்காணல் என்பது இக்காலத்தில் கிட்டத்தட்ட முடியாத ஒன்று தான். ஆனாலும் ஒரு சில அதிர்ஷ்டசாலி பத்திரிகையாளர்களுக்கு அந்த அதிர்ஷ்டம் கிட்டும்.

அப்படி ஒரு அதிர்ஷ்டசாலி அஜித்திடம் எடுத்த நேர்காணலை அவருடைய வலைத்தளத்தில் வெளியிட்டார். நான் படிததினை உங்களிடம் பகிர்ந்து கொள்கிறேன்!

ரஜினிக்கு எப்போதுமே அஜித் மீது தனி பாசம் உண்டு. இதற்கு நடிப்பை முதலீடாக வைத்து அரசியலுக்குப் போகும் ஆசை அஜித்திற்கு கிடையாது என்கிற நல்லெண்ணமே காரணமாக இருக்கலாம். அந்த வாரம் அஜித்தின் பேட்டி வேண்டும் என்பதற்காக அவரை சந்திக்கக் கிளம்பினேன். அஜித்தை பொறுத்தவரை அவரை பற்றி வெளி வராத ’கர்ண பரம்பரை’ கதைகள் நிறைய உண்டு. அவர் வீடு வரும் வரைக்கும் அப்படிப்பட்ட கதை ஒன்றை சொல்லி விடுகிறேன். தன்னிடம் வேலை செய்பவர்கள் நலனில் எப்போதும் அக்கறையோடு இருப்பார் அஜித்.

ஒரு நாள் திருவான்மியூரில் இருக்கும் அவர் வீட்டில் முன் பகுதியில் கற்பலகைகள் பதிக்கும் வேலை நடந்துகொண்டிருந்தது. அதை செய்து கொண்டிருந்தவருக்கு ஐம்பது வயது இருக்கலாம்,. மெலிந்த தேகம். ஒவ்வொரு கல்லாக எடுத்து வைத்துகொண்டிருந்தவர் வெய்யிலின் உக்கிரம் தாங்காமல் சுவர் ஓரமாக சிரிது நேரம் ஒதுங்கி உட்கார்ந்திருக்கிறார். அப்போது வீட்டிற்குள் இருந்த அஜித் வெளியே வர, பெரியவர் பதறி “இதோ முடிச்சிடுறேன் சார்” என்றிருக்கிறார். உடனே அஜித், “ஐயா நீங்க உட்காருங்க” என்று சொல்லி விட்டு அவரே ஒவ்வொரு கல்லாக எடுத்து பதிக்க ஆரம்பித்து விட்டார். ”தம்பி உங்களுக்கு எதுக்கு இந்த வேலை“ என்று அந்த பெரியவர் எவ்வளவோ தடுத்தும் எல்லா கற்களையும் பதித்து விட்டுதான் நிறுத்தியிருக்கிறார். பெரியவருக்கு உரிய சம்பளத்திற்கும் மேலாக கொடுத்து அனுப்பியிருக்கிறார் அஜித். அதே போல் வீட்டில் வழக்கமாக வீட்டு வேலை செய்ய வரும் பெண் ஒரு நாள் தாமதமாக வந்திருக்கிறார். ”ரெண்டுநாளா உடம்புக்கு சரியில்லைய்யா அதான் வர லேட்டாகிடுச்சு” என்றிருக்கிறார். இதை வீட்டிற்குள்ளிருந்து கேட்டுகொண்டிருந்த அஜித், “இன்னைக்கு நீங்க இங்கேயே ஒரு இடத்தில் உட்காருங்க என்று அவருக்கு சுடச்சுட டீயை போட்டுக்கொடுத்து விட்டு, மள மள வென்று சமையல் வேலையிலும் இறங்கி விட்டாராம். மதியம் அந்த வேலைக்கார அம்மாவுக்கு அஜித்தே பரிமாறி சாப்பிட வைத்து அனுப்பியிருக்கிறார்.

இதோ அவர் வீடே வந்து விட்டது அவரை பார்த்து விட்டு இன்னும் ஒரு கதையை சொல்றேன். நண்பர் சுரேஷ் சந்திரா என்னை வரவேற்று அஜித்தின் தனி அறைக்குள் அமரவைக்கிறார். அது ஒரு மினி தியேட்டர் போலிருக்கிறது. சிறிது நேரத்தில் கருப்பு டிஷர்ட், ஷாட்ஸ் போட்டு அறைக்குள் வந்தார். “வாங்க பாஸ்” என்றபடி கைகுலுக்கினார். “என்ன சாப்பிடுறீங்க காஃபி, டீ” என்று அவரே சாய்ஸ் கேட்கிறார். நான் தயங்கியபடி அமைதியாக இருந்தேன். “ஏன் பாஸ் தயங்குறீங்க என்ன வேணும் சொல்லுங்க” என்று மறுபடியும் கேட்க, “எனக்கு மோர் வேணும் கிடைக்குமா” என்றதும், ஒரு நிமிடம் என்னை பார்த்து சிரித்து விட்டு, “இதுதான் எனக்கு பிடிக்கும் நமக்கு என்ன வேணும்கிறதை நாமதான் தீர்மானிக்கனும்” என்று விருட்டென்று எழுந்து ஃபிரிட்ஜை திறந்து அவரே மோர் கலக்க ஆரம்பித்தார். ”இன்னொரு க்ளாஸ் வேணுமா கண்ணன்.” என்று கேட்டார் ”போகும்போது குடிச்சுக்கிறேன்” என்றேன். ”பேட்டியை ஆரம்பிக்கலாமா சார்” “எதுக்கு கண்ணன் பேட்டியெல்லாம் சும்மா பேசிக்கலாம்.” என்று சொல்லவும் நானும் அதை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டேன்.

பில்லா 2 படத்தில் ஒரு ஹெலிகாபட்டர் ஷாட்டில் அதன் கதவை திறந்து வைத்து வாசலில் நின்றபடி பறப்பார். “ஏன் இவ்வளவு ரிஸ்க் எடுக்குறீங்க.” என்று கேட்டேன். இந்த கேள்வியை வேறு ஒரு ஹீரோவிடம் கேட்டிருந்தால் ”ஆமாம் சார் ரிஸ்க் எடுக்குறதெல்லாம் எனக்கு ரஸ்க் சாப்பிடுற மாதிரி” என்று பீற்றிக்கொண்டிருப்பார். ஆனால் அஜித், ”ஷேப்டிக்கு இடுப்பில் கம்பி கட்டியிருந்தேன் பாஸ். ஆனால் படத்தில் அது தெரியாது. இந்த காட்சியை க்ராஃபிக்ஸில் கூட எடுத்திருக்கலாம் ஆனால் படம் பார்க்க வரும் என் ரசிகர்களை திருப்தியாகனும், அந்த திரில்லிங்கை அவங்களும் அனுபவிக்கனும அதுக்காகதான் அந்த ரிஸ்க்கை எடுத்தேன்.” என்றார். சட்டென்று “நீங்கள் ஹெல்மெட் போடுறீங்களா” என்றார் “இல்லை” என்றேன். “அப்ப நீங்களும் ரிஸ்க் எடுக்குறீங்கனுதான் அர்த்தம். இனிமேல் ஹெல்மெட் போட்டு வண்டி ஓட்டுங்க. எதுல இல்ல ரிஸ்க்” என்று அக்கறைபட்டவரிடம் ‘ஏன் எப்பொதும் தனிமையிலே இருக்கீங்க?” என்றேன்.

“நானும் ஒரு காலத்தில் நண்பர்களோடு இருந்தவன்தான் ஆனால் அதெல்லாம் ஒருகாலம். இப்போ எனக்கு நானே நண்பன். சினிமா இல்லைன்னாலும் இந்த அஜித் இருப்பான்னு நம்புற என்னை புரிஞ்சவங்க சிலர் இருக்காங்க. அது போதும் வாழ்க்கை நல்லபடியாக போய்கிட்டிருக்கு. சினிமா இல்லைன்னா எத்தனையோ வேலைகள் இருக்கு அதை செய்து பிழைச்சுக்குவான் இந்த அஜித். என்று சொல்லிவிட்டு மௌனம்காத்தார். பிறகு அவரே எழுந்து மீண்டும் எனக்கு பிடித்த மோரை கலந்து கொடுத்தார். நான் குடித்துக்கொண்டே, “எப்படி சார் ரஜினி உங்ககிட்ட இவ்வளவு அன்பாக இருக்கார்.” என்றேன். இப்படிக்கேட்டதும் மெதுவாக தலையாட்டிக் கொண்டே “அது எங்க அம்மா அப்பா செய்த புண்ணியம் பாஸ். என்னை பொருத்தவரை ரஜினி சார் எனக்கு கடவுள் மாதிரி. அவர் எனக்கு சில விஷயங்களில் வழிகாட்டியா இருக்கார். என் வாழ்க்கையில் முக்கியமானவர்.” என்று அவர் சொல்லிகொண்டிருக்க அவர் கை தானாக கும்பிடுகிறது. “தயவுசெய்து இந்த விஷயத்தை பேட்டியில் எழுதாதீங்க பாஸ். அவரை எனக்காக விளம்பரத்துக்கு பயன்படுத்திக்கறதா யாரும் நினைச்சிடக்கூடாது.” என்று கேட்டுக்கொண்டார். அவர் சொன்னதுபோலவே நான் அந்த விஷயத்தை பேட்டியில் எழுதவில்லை. இப்போதுதான் எழுதுகிறேன். அதை நான் எழுதியிருந்தால் அஜித் சொன்னது போல ரஜினி பற்றிய டைட்டிலைதான் அட்டையில் போட்டு கட்டுரை வந்திருக்கும். அப்படி வராததில் அஜித்திற்கு ரொம்பவே திருப்தி. அதை பிறகு ஒருநாள் நான் அவரிடம் பேசும்போது தெரிந்துகொண்டேன்.

இப்படி விளம்பரத்தை விரும்பாத மனிதராக அஜித் இருக்கும் சினிமாவில்தான் அதற்கு எதிர்மாறான எண்ணம் கொண்டவர்களும் இருக்கிறார்கள். அதற்கு ஒரு சம்பவத்தை சொல்கிறேன். அப்போது குங்குமம் இதழில் வேலைசெய்துகொண்டிருந்தேன். ஒரு அரசியல் தலைவர் ஹீரோ போல் ஒரு படத்தில் நடித்துகொண்டிருந்தார். படம் மெதுவாக வளர்ந்து கொண்டிருந்தது. படத்திற்கு ஒரு பெரிய விளம்பரத்தை எதிர்பார்த்த இயக்குனர் அதற்காக பல்வேறு முயற்சிகளை மேற்கொண்டிருந்தார். அவர் எனக்கும் நண்பர்தான். ஒருநாள் எனக்கு போன் வந்தது. “கண்ணன் நான் சொல்றதை கவனமா கேளுங்க. என்னை ஒரு கும்பல் கடத்தி சாலிகிராமத்துல இருக்குற ஒரு லாட்ஜில் அடைச்சு வெச்சிருக்காங்க. நான் அவங்களுக்கு தெரியாமல் போன் பண்றேன். நீங்க ரூம் நம்பர் 201 க்கு எப்படியாவது சரியா 3.30 மணிக்கு வந்து காப்பாத்துங்க.” என்று ரகசிய குரலில் பேசி போனை வைத்தார். நான் பரபரப்பானேன். ஆனால் லேசான சந்தேகம். இருந்தாலும் அவர் என் நணபர் லாட்ஜை கண்டுபிடிக்கனுமே என்று அவர் குறிப்பிட்ட நேரத்திரற்கு முன்பே அந்த இடத்துக்கு நான் சென்று விட்டேன்.

சாலிகிராமம் முழுதும் அந்த லாட்ஜ் இருக்கும் இடத்தை தேடி அலைந்து ஒரு வழியாக கண்டுபிடித்துவிட்டேன். இரண்டு மணிக்கே அங்கிருந்தேன். பக்கத்தில் இருக்கும் டீக்கடையிலிருந்து லாட்ஜை நோட்டம் விடலாம் என்று நினைத்து டீக்கடைக்குப் போனேன். டீக்கடையில் அந்த காட்சியைப் பார்த்து ஷாக் ஆகிவிட்டேன். பின்னே, தன்னை கடத்திட்டதா சொன்ன அந்த இயக்குனர் லுங்கியை கட்டிக்கொண்டு டீக்கடையில் ஹாயாக பஜ்ஜி சாப்பிட்டுக்கொண்டிருந்தார். என்னைப் பார்த்ததும் அவருக்குப் பெரிய ஷாக். ’3.30 மணிக்குதானே வரச்சொல்லியிருந்தோம் இவ்வளவு சீக்கிரமா வந்துட்டானே’ என்று அவர் முகத்தில் அதிர்ச்சியும் குழப்பமும் கூடவே அசடும் வழிந்ததை பார்க்க முடிந்தது. அவர் எண்ணமெல்லாம் அன்று மாலை செய்திதாளில் ’அரசியல் தலைவர் நடிக்கும் படத்தின் இயக்குனர் கடத்தல்’ என்ற செய்தி வந்துவிடும் அவருடைய தொண்டர்கல் எல்லாம் தமிழ் நாடு முழுதும் மறியல், கடையடைப்பு என்று இறங்கி விடுவார்கள் இந்த விளம்பரமே போதும் படத்தை ரிலீஸ் செய்துடலாம் என்பதுதான். ஆனால் எனக்கு ஏற்பட்ட சின்ன சந்தேகத்தால் அலுவலகத்திலோ, தினகரன், தமிழ்முரசு அலுவலகத்திலோ சொல்லாமல் முதலில் நாம் சென்று பார்த்துவிடலாம் என்று களமிறங்கினேன். பெரிய விளம்பர யுக்தி பலிக்காமல் போனது அவருக்கு தோல்வி. எனக்கு வெற்றி.

இப்போது அஜித் விஷயத்திற்கு வருவோம். இப்போதும் அவர் ஒரு படம் நடித்து முடித்ததும் நண்பர் சுரேஷ் சந்திரா மூலம் பல்வேறு அனாதை ஆஷ்ரமங்களுக்கு செக் மூலம் தொகைகளை கொடுத்து அனுப்புவார். இது பற்றி யாருக்கும் சொல்லகூடாது என்றும் சொல்லிவிடுவார். இப்படி அவர் செய்த தர்மம்தான் ’ஆரம்பம்’ படத்தின் தயாரிப்பாளரான ஏ.எம்.ரத்தினத்தை காக்கும்படி வசூலை வாரி குவித்திருக்கிறது.

I’m An Ardent Fan Of Ajith: Arrambam Actress Akshara

How does it feel to be somebody who asks Ajith Kumar to remove his glasses and subsequently invite the wrath of his fans across the world? The dusky Akshara Gowda has revealed how she felt when they shot the scene in recently-released movie Arrambam.

Akshara Gowda has shared her experience of working with her favourite star Ajith Kumar. She has also said that the actor’s mass power scared her to some extent. She claims, “I’m an ardent fan of Ajith Kumar sir and have always wanted to act with him. Thanks to the heavens, it happened very early in my career. I realised the mass power of the Thala sir when I saw the film with the audience, my god it was scary too!”

The actress says that Ajith Kumar is down-to-earth and she cherishes Arrambam experience all her life. “All said and done, Ajith Kumar sir is a fine human being and I will cherish the moments of Arrambam all through my life,” Akshara claims.

Talking about herself, Akshara Gowda revealed that she is a classical dancer, who was very interested in sports. She said, “I’m a classical dancer and very early in my life I developed an interest for modelling and acting.”

Ajith and Gautham to set the ball rolling soon

Gautham Menon is currently busy canning his new untitled Simbu film at a rapid pace and he intends to complete work on the film in one stretch, well in time so that he can start work on his Ajith film in February 2014, after the release of Ajith’s Pongal offering Veeram. The director intends to meet the star and give him a complete script reading session some time soon.

This new Ajith – Gautham pairing has already sent the hype meter soaring and fans are anticipating a stylish mass entertainer from the ace director. Ajith’s plans to go for surgery to mend his injured leg, aren’t clear yet. He had earlier revealed that he plans to undergo surgery and then rest and recuperate in a foreign location after the release of Veeram. But now, is the Gautham Menon project taking precedence over his surgery?

Ajith is next only to Rajini and Kamal

Ajith’s Arrambam has turned out to be a box-office success not just in Tamil Nadu but also in overseas markets. In the USA, Arrambam is now the 5th biggest grosser among all Tamil films, just behind landmark films such as Enthiran (1.6 Million USD), Vishwaroopam (1 Million USD), Sivaji (600,000 USD) and Dasavatharam (500,000 USD).

As on Saturday, 9th November, Arrambam has grossed 369,150 USD (2.3 crores approx) from reported screens. Arrambam’s US gross is higher than other recent biggies such as Thuppakki (364,000 USD), Thalaivaa (260,000 USD) and Singam 2.

In other overseas markets such as UK, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Australia, Arrambam has met with a similar grand welcome from the audiences.

 The 1st schedule of filming began on 2 June 2012 with portions involving Ajith Kumar, Nayantara and Arya. The filming was expected to proceed until the end of the month in Mumbai, but later cancelled due to monsoon and location was shifted to Bangalore and later in Hyderabad. On 7 September, during the second schedule, Taapsee Pannu joined the crew and began shooting her portions.

During the next schedule that started on 2 November 2012, filming was held in Mumbai and its suburban locations. While shooting an action sequence, Ajith Kumar was injured, suffering an ligament tear. Despite his injuries, Ajith Kumar continued shooting.

Veeram teaser From Tomorrow

The shooting of Veeram is progressing at a brisk pace. Ajith and Tamanna play the lead roles in Veeram directed by Siruthai Siva. The teaser of the film will be released in more than 200 screens tomorrow (November 7). The film is slated for Pongal release next year.

The other cast members include Santhanam, Ramesh Khanna, Vidharth, Devadarshini, Vidyullekha Raman, Suhail Chandhok and Pradeep Rawat. Music by Devi Sri Prasad. The film is produced by Vijaya Productions.

Ajith’s Arrambam crosses 60 crores

Vishnuvardhan directed ‘Arrambam’ starring Ajith, Nayanthara, Arya and Taapsee which released for Diwali on October 31st has crossed 60 crores collection in the first week. The much awaited Ajith flick grossed 7.20 crores at the Chennai box office alone and about 30 crores in Tamil Nadu.

Along with the overseas collections, the film has grossed more 60 crores in total, much to the delight of the fans and makers. The film now has also got more screens due as Karthi starrer ‘All in All Alaghu Raja’ hasn’t fulfilled the audiences expectations. With more screens for ‘ Arrambam’, the collections are expected to soar in the next couple of weeks.

Arrambam Movie Online – Preview

“If you ask me five reasons to watch the film, One, two and three would be Ajith, four would be Arya and the last one would be my entire cast and crew. Zero being the first of the numbers, I’d want that spot,” laughs director Vishnuvardhan. “If you want to have a blast, Arrambam is your answer. We have done everything in our power to entertain you and I have to thank my team for that. They are the best!” concludes the proud director.

One of the renowned names associated with Arrambam is the national award winning art director Ilayaraja, who cannot stop gushing about the collaborative atmosphere in Arrambam sets. “It is so amazing to see so many big stars working together in a single film. It is a very healthy sight too. Every character has been performed by a big name, no matter how big their roles are,” says Ilayaraja.

As if it even needs reassurance, Ilayaraja promises, “The film has some stunning locations. The team has shot scenes in some picturesque locales around India and around the globe.” He also goes on to say “Arrambam is a global project.”

On the technical aspects of the film, Ilayaraja has this to say: “I generally use very less colors. But in this project I have used it graciously. The songs will be highly chromatic. Om Prakash has done a brilliant job with the camera.”

Ilayaraja promises that “you’ll not feel bored during the run of the film,” also adding that “Arya and Taapsee’s characters will stand out and keep lingering in the minds.”

Om Prakash’s cinematography is renowned for setting the mood and his work in Arrambam is highly anticipated. He claims, “Vishnuvardhan is the biggest highlight of the film. He is at his best, and everyone knows his style, he is a perfectionist by nature.”

Letting in on some insider details, Prakash confesses, “We get a judgment while shooting a film. Even without the dialogues, BGM, the first out from the camera was very interesting.” About the neatly fleshed out characters of the film, he maintains that “everyone in the film has meaty characters. A super stylish Ajith, Arya and Taapsee’s romance will be heartwarming and cute. Nayan will look more stunning than she was in Billa.”

He also states, “We have shot in extreme conditions- some scenes during snowfall and some in hot and sunny conditions. These changes are the major contributors to the film’s hues.” Besides, according to Prakash, there are “No unnecessary song sequences in the film. Vishnuvardhan was particular about this. It’s natural that people get bored during song sequences. We have made sure that they don’t leave their seats during songs.”

About the car accident video that went viral on YouTube, Prakash has this to say: “that was different while shooting. The car was moving at a speed of 100 km/h. Ajith jumped and got his leg stuck under the wheel, but he didn’t show his pain until the shot was completed. Moment after director said OK, he collapsed.”

Prakash also says that some scenes are ‘must watch’ in the movie. “There’s a boat chase, an amazing sequence, even Hollywood stunt choreographer Lee Whittaker was stunned by Ajith’s capability and commitment. It was a risky sequence, shot in a sea and waves were harsh. Ajith steered the boat beautifully. Lee offered a dupe but Ajith wouldn’t take.”

Arrambam releases this Thursday as a prelude to the ensuing Diwali celebrations.

A fantastic opening weekend ahead for Arrambam

Here, we present to you an update about Arrambam from the Coimbatore territory comprising Coimbatore city, Tiruppur, Erode and Ooty, where Cosmo Pictures is releasing the movie.

Coimbatore City

About 90% of tickets have been sold out in advance for the first 4 days in the city and the 4 days gross from the city is expected to cross 1 crores. The first day has been completely sold out with even theaters which are set to screen Azhaguraja and Pandianadu accommodating Arrambam on 31st and 1st, in all their shows. About 15 screens in Coimbatore city would be screening Arrambam on the first two days with about 7 screens retaining the movie from 2nd onwards. Even on Diwali day and on 3rd, those theaters screening Azhaguraja and Pandianadu will be holding special shows for Arrambam.

Including Tiruppur, Erode, Ooty and Coimbatore city, Arrambam would be screened in 44 centers from 2nd onwards with the first 2 days seeing a much higher screen count (around 75), thanks to the demand and the early release.

‘Arrambam’- Amazing advance booking

Ajith’s eagerly awaited Vishnuvardhan directed Arrambam is getting ready for release worldwide in a record number of screens. The overseas digital discs and physical prints have been despatched from Chennai lab on Monday evening.

In the overseas market in many places Arrambam is releasing on October 30 evening with premiere shows, which has been sold out. In local Tamil Nadu market the film will start with early morning shows on Thursday (Oct 31).

There has been phenomenal advance booking for Arrambam in Chennai city and suburbs. Many of the multiplexes in outskirts of the city have dedicated all screens for the Ajith action entertainer. The film is sure to take an earth shattering opening.

On the face of it Arrambam has potential to take the biggest ever opening. It will be showcased in maximum number of screens on October 31 and November 1, which is enough to get that gargantuan opening. And even for Diwali weekend when there is opposition, the film has been sold out in multiplexes.

Veeram, 5 days after Arrambam?

With Arrambam, releasing on 31st October, hitting the high notes on the expectation meter and also raking up phenomenal advance booking sales, the movie is well on its way to being a commercially successful venture.

Ajith’s next release, Veeram, which is currently being shot in Hyderabad at a brisk pace, has a big treat lined up for Thala fans in the coming weeks. According to an industry birdie, the teaser of the movie has been readied and might be released on the 5th of November. An official announcement is awaited in this regard though.

The movie is on track for a Pongal 2014 release as reported earlier, and it might hit the screens a few days ahead of the festival, on January 10, which happens to be a Friday. With Arrambam releasing a few days ahead of Diwali, looks like Veeram is repeating the pattern before Pongal.

In what could be a surprising move, Gautham Menon has approached Ajith Kumar for his next movie. The director has decided to put behind the disappointing chapter of Surya’s project and has now met Thala for his forthcoming flick.

Sources say that there are strong chances of Ajith Kumar and Gautham Menon joining hands again. The actor’s manager has confirmed their meeting, but claimed that it could be too early to talk about the development.

It is not sure whether Gautham Menon has approached Ajith Kumar to star in Dhruva Natchathiram, which was offered to Surya. While some say that it is the same script, others believe that the director approached him with a brand new script.

​Ajith is happy with ‘Arrambam’

Ajith is very happy with the Arrambam, especally after the censors cleared it with an U certificate.The censor officials it seems was lavish in praising the basic content of the film.

Later Ajith saw the final censor copy at a special screening of the film in a prominent preview theater . Ajith wanted to see the censored copy as he will not be in Chennai during the release of the film.

Ajith will be in Hyderabad shooting for his next film with director Shiva, when Arrambam releases on October 31. .After watching the release copy of Arrambam, Ajith hugged and praised the director Vishnuvardhan and thanked him for giving him a ‘Big’ film like this .

And soon he was on his mobile chatting up with Arya, his co-star in the film. Ajith told Arya : “Your combination with Taapsee was amazing , the vibration of youth is written all over your performance . You will win over the hearts of all the audience . Iam sure this film will take you to great heights .

Arya was too humble in receiving the praise and responded by thanking Ajith for his lavishing praise and added that this praise will inspire him to do much better in his career . The executive producer AM Ratnam later remarked : “Arrambam is going to create a mult-starrer wave in Kollywood. Official information about the title of the much awaited Ajith-Vishnuvardhan film will be released on April 1st from the producers' side. Fans have already been waiting for quite a long time for some information about the film and their wait seems to be coming to an end.

The film is majorly set in Mumbai and it has also been shot in places like Chennai, Dubai and Bangalore. A few weeks back, the team was in Dubai in relation to the movie's shoots and now they are back to Mumbai to complete the shoots. 

All that remains are just the song sequences. It must be noted that this movie has the highest budget compared to other Ajith films and stars like Nayanthara, Taapsee and Arya also feature alongside him.

AJITH’S NEXT: A RURAL AVATAR

The actor has also requested his directors to tone down on herocentric titles and focus on the story

Thala Ajith is likely to take on a rural avatar in his next flick directed by Siruthai Siva. We hear that the shoot will commence from the first week of April in Hyderabad, which is touted to be the actor's all-time favourite location. A source close to the actor says, "He has been working on urban characters in his recent films. For a change, he wanted to try a rural role this time. Many of his fans have requested him to take up such a role. So, his film with Siruthai Siva will be a rural-based script. The crew is also expected to shoot in the southern districts of Tamil Nadu." At this point, even the title of this ruralbased film is not confirmed. The source adds, "Ajith wanted to tone down a little bit on the hero-centric titles. He doesn't want any title based on the name of his character in the film. He prefers a title that will be apt for the story — not his role. That's why the production team has been working hard to come up with an interesting title for the film. He has also been requesting directors to avoid songs and dialogues praising him in the film. He doesn't want his character to deviate from the script."

Valai’s next schedule in Chennai

There are huge speculations on Ajith's 53rd movie directed by Vishnuvardhan. Earlier it was on movie title as Valai (tentative), and now the rumors are spreading about the movie release as on May 1st. The next schedule of this movie will be in Chennai.

A.M.Ratnam clarifies all the rumors about his next flick with Ajith. He said the movie title has not been confirmed and movie will be ready by the mid June. This news may disappoint Ajith's fans as they are expecting the movie release on Ajith's birthday i.e. on May 1st.

Vishnuvardhan-Ajith are working with great expectations as their previous flick Billa is an enormous hit in their careers. This movie has also got Arya, Nayantara and Tapsee in lead roles and Rana Daggubati in a prominent role. Yuvan Shankar Raja will be composing tunes for this film and cinematography is by Vinod. A.M.Ratnam is producing this film under Sri Surya Movies.

Siva Karthikeyan values his 20 minutes with Ajith

Not many know that actor Siva Karthikeyan actually made a blink-you-miss type cameo in Ajith's 2008 release, Aegan. Siva recalled that he felt astonished seeing Ajith for the first time due to the sheer presence of the star and his glowing complexion.

Siva got a chance to act in this film thanks to his comedy show on TV, which was noticed by one of the associate directors who was working for Aegan. He had to wait for 4 to 5 days though, to get a chance to do a scene together with Ajith but was made to feel welcome despite his humble stature at that time. Ajith spent about 20 minutes with him before their shot, asking him about whether he was paid properly, his family life and also about his spending and saving habits.  
 
Due to changes in the script, Siva didn't participate in Aegan beyond that particular day but he still deems it an unforgettable experience.

Ajith shows Taapsee how its done

Taapsee Pannu who is working in the Ajith-Vishnuvardhan project, or 'Valai' as its being refered to these days, has said that the experience of working on this film will go down as one of the most memorable moments of her career thus far. She is in high praise for her co-actor Ajith for the manner in which he respects and treats his co-stars, regardless of how experienced or not they are. 

She said that initially she was nervous about doing scenes with Ajith but as she later found out, Ajith himself came forward to guide her through scene preparations and helped her with nuances of her performance which made her feel more at ease working with the charismatic hero. Since then she has been eagerly awaiting to shoot scenes with Ajith.

The new commonality between Ajith and Simbu

Ajith is known for his strict policy of not attending film-related events like music launches, victory celebrations and such. He has been standing by this principle since long and only rarely can we spot Ajith in events. Even if the event is surrounding his own film's promotions, the star isn't to be seen.

Now his biggest celeb fan, Simbu, has also decided to follow the same way laid out by Thala. He is going to remain mum even when it comes to the promotions of his films, it seems. We have to see how STR goes about his business when his future films like Vaalu and Vettai Mannan near their release.s

Suspense continues over Ajith Kumar’s 53rd movie title

The fans of Ajith Kumar has been desperately waiting to know the title of his 53rd film. The film, which hit the floors several months ago, has been named by the makers of the film but they are tight lipped to reveal the title in spite of many names including Valai doing rounds.

According to the buzz, the movie bosses are cautious about the title considering recent controversies over movie titles. Having seen troubles of the makers of Vijay's Thuppakki over getting the title and other filmmakers, the team is not willing to reveal the name of the film now. 

It has been confirmed by the director of the film on Twitter. Vishnuvardhan wrote, "Even I want to share a lot about the film and the title, though it's too early guys. And regarding the title, I'm waiting for the producer to give a go ahead to release. Finally it's a team decision, will be sharing soon. Too many issues now happening. And I think it's better we edit and come easy and kool. Really I hope u guys understand. Love u all." 

Meanwhile, after completing the shoots in Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai, the team has left to Dubai for the latest schedule of the movie. The film has Nayantara, Arya, Tapasee Pannu, Suman Ranganathan, Kishore and others.

Is Powerstar joining Ajith? … Sources clarify

Since yesterday, the media has been abuzz with news that Powerstar Srinivasan has been roped in for the Ajith – Siruthai Siva project. But our sources say that this news is just a figment of someone's imagination.

Santhanam is a part of the film and he would be in charge of the comedy. Fans who were expecting the Santhanam – Powerstar duo to continue their act in this film too, would be a disappointed lot. 

Tamannah takes care of the sizzle quotient of this commercial entertainer which will go on floors soon. Devi Sri Prasad is expected to bring some peppy tunes to the table for this film.
