Billa 2 Chennai Box-Office (July 13 to 15)

Ajith`s Billa 2 may have carry mixed reports but has taken an earth shaking opening at the CBO. From approximately 50 screens in Chennai and suburbs it has grossed a whopping Rs 2.65 Crore, a new record for an Ajith film.

Aascar Films have given it such a wide release that it has been able to get a record opening. Remember Billa 2 with its `A` certificate has to pay 30% as entertainment tax.

Billa 2 is number 1 to 3 in our charts, as nearly 85 % of box-office revenue at CBO this week was generated from this film. Naan Ee is at number four and Saif Ali Khan- Deepika Padukone film Cocktail has opened well at number five.

Actor Ajith Kumar’s Billa 2 doing wonders at Box Office

The star power of Ajith Kumar is working big time again. Despite getting mixed reviews from critics and audience, the movie has made a stunning business at the Box Office in the first weekend. According to the traders, Billa 2 has earned around Rs 19 crore nett in the first weekend in Tamil Nadu. The movie, which was released on July 13, ran into packed houses in most of the theatres in Tamil Nadu. On an average, the occupancy at cinema halls for the movie was 95% in single screens as well as multiplexes. As far as the international Box Office is concerned, the movie has collected approximately Rs 30.69 lakhs (UK£35,930) nett at the UK Box Office on the first day and on Saturday, it raked in approximately 17.61 lakhs (£20,620). At Australian Box Office, it has collected approximately 13.72 lakhs (A$24,469) and 8.90 lakhs (A$15,874) on Friday and Saturday, respectively. At the US, Billa 2 grossed 35.10 lakhs and 22.09 lakhs approximately on Friday and Saturday at reported screens and the figure might be bigger when the complete report is out. Billa 2 opens big And box office Collection

Ajith`s Billa 2 produced by In Entertainment and distributed by Aascar Films has taken a good opening. In Tamil Nadu the film has netted Rs 7.61 Crore on day one (July 13) of its release, which is fantastic.

Aascar Ravichandran who distributed the film in Tamil Nadu said: "I`m very happy withBilla 2`s response at the box-office. After the entertainment tax cut, the opening day collection for B2 is bigger than Ajith`s previous film. Remember, other than Ajith all are newcomers, there are no comedy tracks, no `gaana songs` and it is action-packed."

However, the film has been getting mixed response from the audience. Sunir Kheterpal the producer of the film says: "It is not a typical Ajith film still the audiences are thronging the theatres. I`m sure the film will gross anywhere between Rs 38 to Rs 40 cr in the opening weekend across India."

Simbu loves Ajith's Billa 2

It's not just common people who are fans of Thala Ajith, it seems. Simbu is a hardcore fan and just like any other fan, he too caught up with Billa 2 on the first day of the film.

"Had a blast !!! Each and every punch line was:) thala was and marana mass ..." posted the actor on Twitter after watching the film. The actor also hailed the music and visuals in the film.

'Idhayam' song cut in Billa 2

The mellifluous melody “Idhayam…” song in Ajith’s Billa 2, has been cut from the film for the Indian viewers. However the song has been screened in all international releasing centres of the film.

Though no official announcement has been made, the buzz is that the song has been cut as the makers thought it created a lag in the narrations.

The song sung by Shwetha Pandit is one of the hit songs in the film which has been popularised on FM stations. It is said to be a romantic number picturised on Parvathy Omanakuttan.

Ajith Kumar Billa 2 Movie  piracy DVD out after the film has been released to the market in four hours!

Ajitkumar, Parvati omanakkuttan, puruna starring film Billa 2, released today in theaters around the world more.

The film was released in Chennai this morning. But in other parts of the world is Released last night.

Thus, the film's DVD release is expected to be rescheduled. so the pirated Dvd out yesterday morning itself

The film seems to be some websites also. pirated DVD of the film producer, All Ajith Fans and director  get Shocked Billa 2.

Producer spent large amounts of advertising for the film, the producer of pirated DVD tantiruppat Affairs spokesman said the major problem.

First things first- If you expected Billa-2 to be a stylish film, you will not be disappointed. Problem is, apart from a few stale gimmicks borrowed from a bunch of Hollywood films -- nothing really happens in this film at all. It is a miscalculation on the part of both the film's writer and director Chakri Toleti who has to take the blame for it.

Packaged snazzily with a charismatic hero like Ajith, glossy-finish camerawork by RD Rajasekhar, exotic locations and fancy costumes, every frame of the film probably cost lakhs to put together, but it still feels like a hollow piece in the end because the story doesn't hold.

The film has no soul, not even a wafer thin story or any smart packaging in terms of commercial elements associated with a big hero film. In short, director Chakri Toleti has made a film without understanding the basic structure of commercial mass films and it lacks local flavour.

The story is a prequel on how David Billa became the biggest underworld don of all times. David Billa (Ajith) a refugee (?) comes to Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu and his journey begins into crime. First he starts as a local diamond smuggler who graduates into drugs and later international arms smuggling. On the way up the crime syndicate, he meets a lot of treacherous opponents whom he eliminates one by one and becomes the dreaded don. But the treatment's so over-the-top, so indulgent that it fails to establish any connect.

In all fairness, the first half of the film is marginally better than the second. If Billa-2 is salvaged to some extent, it's thanks to Ajith’s irresistible screen presence and his spontaneous approach to the character. Sadly you have no words of praise for good looking villains Sudhanshu and Vidyut and girls Parvathy Omanakuttan and Bruna Abdullah who can't rise above the flawed script.

Do we really want impressionable young children to see this kind of violence where people are brutally chopped, throat slit and killed at regular intervals? You cringe in the scene when Ajit kills the corrupt policeman (KK) when he is having kinky sex in a brothel!

Don't go in expecting too much, perhaps you won't be too disappointed. Watch Billa-2 for its stylish presentation....

Billa 2 Review Preview

Ajith's magnum opus Billa 2 has been released worldwide today at nearly 1200 screens. Now here is the opportunity for all Ajith fans to write their own review about Billa 2 movie. Billa 2 stars Ajith, Parvathy Omanakuttan and Bruna Abdullah in the lead roles while music for the film has been scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja and it is directed by Chakri Toleti. Billa 2 is prequel to blockbuster Billa.

Countdown- 1 day to Billa 2

Ajith’s Billa 2 is only a few hours from being premiered. The nearest place from Kollywood capital Chennai where the film will be first shown is “special VIP show” in Colombo tonight at 9.30 pm.

On Tuesday evening, Billa 2 hero Ajith held a preview of the film for his close family members at Four Frames preview theatre. Ajith’s wife Shalini and his parents were some of the handful of people who saw the film. Later the star along with his director Chakri Toleti went to Tirupathi for a “Thanks Giving”.

A press meet of Billa 2 is being arranged at a five star hotel in Chennai on Thursday (July 12) noon, where the producer will introduce the entire cast and crew. Ajith, as usual will not be attending the event. The press show of the film will be held at Four Frames on Friday morning.

In Chennai the first show is likely to be at Rakki complex in Ambatur in the wee hours of Friday (July 13) at 4am. The rest of the suburban theatres will start screening B2 from early morning 5.30am. The Chennai high-end multiplexes will start screening the film only from12.30 pm.


Billa 2 running time is only 2 hours and 7 minutes, which has made theatres drool. They can hold multiple shows of the film on the opening day. Aascar Ravichandran who is distributing the film said the screen count has exceeded 550 by Wednesday evening. 

Billa 2 holds its first press meet

Finally the producers of Billa 2, In Entertainment and Wide Angle Creations conducted their first ever press meet. 

The media meet was held at a Chennai star hotel, a day before its release!

It may sound incredible, but Billa 2 since its launch last June has not bothered to hold any press meets, not even an audio or a teaser launch. Except for Ajith its hero, the rest of the star cast and technical crew were there at the press meet along with the producers.

None of the producers and cast could speak in Tamil including director Chakri Toleti and Parvathy who are south Indians. The only exception was cameraman RD Rajasekhar who salvaged the show by talking in Tamil.

The others present at the press conference were producers Sunir Kheterpal, George Pious, director Chakri Toleti, actors Parvathy Omanakuttan, BrunaAbdullah, Vidyut Jamwal and Sudhanshu Pandey. 

Yuvan Shankar Raja the music director also was not present for the press briefing.

Billa II: Second big release after Endhiran

Billa 2 is all set to become one of the biggest releases of Ajith Kumar's career. The movie, which is hitting screens this Friday (July 13), is said to be the second big release after superstar Rajinikanth's Endhiran – The Robot. Rajinikanth's Endhiran was released in 2,050 screens in multiple languages. On the other end, Ajith Kumar's Billa 2 is ready to release in 1,200 screens, which is the highest for a Tamil movie in the current year. Reports say that in the US alone, it is being premiered in about 34 screens in 28 states on July 12. ATMUS Entertainment in association with GK Media, the overseas distributor which holds the rights of Billa 2 worldwide, is distributing the movie. In Tamil Nadu, Billa 2 is hitting in over 500 screens. The Telugu dubbed version will be released as David Billa. Both Tamil and Telugu versions will be released in Karnataka. The film is also being released with subtitles in France, Malaysia and Arabia. The movie, which is a sequel to Billa, also features Parvathy Omanakuttan, Bruna Abdullah, and Vidyut Jamwal in the important roles. Ajith Billa 2 Countdown –3 days

One of 2012’s most eagerly awaited film is Ajith’s Chakri Toleti directed Billa 2. The film produced by In Entertainment in association with Wide Angle Creations is releasing worldwide on July 13.

Billa 2 is an action packed film a prequel to Ajith’s Vishnuvardhan directed Billa (2007). Billa 2 focuses on how David, an ordinary man from the coastal Tamil Nadu, became Billa, a dreaded underworld don.

Actor Ajith’s Billa 2 beats Ranbir Kapoor’s Barfi on YouTube!

Ajith Kumar has proved his star power again, as his latest trailer of his upcoming movie Billa 2 has garnered more attention than a much-awaited Bollywood film. Well, the new teaser of the Tamil movie has got more hits on video-sharing site YouTube than Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D'Cruz starrer Barfi. Billa 2 and Barfi trailers were released on July 2 evening and both the trailers have been overwhelmingly welcomed by fans. But the interesting part of the story is that the teaser of Tamil film got more views than the Bollywood movie. While the Ajith Kumar's film managed to cross five-lakh mark in 48 hours, the Ranbir Kapoor's movie could only manage to cross 4.75 lakh hits. At the end of second day, Ajith Kumar's Billa 2 trailer had got 522,452, whereas Barfi had received 482,254 hits. However, the current views stand at 662,030 and 595,765, which clearly shows that Billa 2 is way ahead of Barfi. Barfi is a romantic comedy film directed by Anurag Basu. It is a heart-warming tale of Murphy (a deaf and dumb boy) and Jhilmil (a mentally challenged girl) and Ileana D'Cruz. The film talks about the prankster Murphy, whose bitter-sweet relationships with Illeana and Priyanka would lead to twists and turns in their respective lives. Billa II Records More Then 5,5 lakh hits in Two days

The Billa 2 new trailer has taken the Ajith Kumar fans by storm. The latest video footage, which was released on the evening of July 2, has got a record number of hits on video-sharing website Youtube. The Ajith Kumar's trailer recorded five lakh views in just 48 hours and it is said to be the highest ever views recorded for any trailer of a Thala film in two days. As of now, the clipping has been viewed 579,790 views on Youtube. The buzz is that the trailer has driven the actor's fans crazy and they are watching it over and over again. The link is also being shared through social networking websites and e-mails. The latest trailer gives hint about David Billa's transformation from an ordinary man to underworld kingpin. It also shows Ajith Kumar mouthing some punch dialogues and doing some hair-rising action sequences. Meenakshi Dixit, Vidyut Jamal and others are also seen in the trailer . However, the trailer, which was released on Monday (June 2) around 7 pm after the plans of launching it through a function went for a toss, received over 3.5 lakh hits in less than 24 hours.
